Flower Power Miami

Flower Power Miami is a small family run business trying to make a change in the Miami flower industry. They offer a pretty simple concept, flowers in vintage wooden boxes. No balloons, teddy bears, happy face vases, or any other gimmicks. Just arrangements made with love that have a unique look all on their own.

Logo Design

When asked to create a logo for them in 2016, I was very excited to help this aspiring business get started. The owners were very passionate about bringing the power of love to thier customers through their heartfelt flower arrangements. They wanted to embodie this idea through their entire brand, starting with their logo.

I came up with a variety of logo ideas based on everything from modern style monogram icons to the 60s Hippy Movement. When I think about the phrase "Flower Power" as it relates to love, it reminds me of the iconic photograph by Bernie Boston of a man putting carnations in the pointed barrels of a soldiers gun at a protest against the Vietnam war.

I wanted to create a logo that conveyed a sense of love through flowers and envoked the inner hippy within us all. I also wanted to give the owners a good variety of options and not pidgeonhole them into one style. So I explored with as many different ideas as I could come up with. Below you can see some of the ideas that made it through the initial round of designs, as well as the final selection.
